There was lots of activity in the yard over the weekend. I had 17 robins from dawn to dusk eating crabapples, barberries, and holly berries. They were joined by 12 Cedar Waxwings, Purple Finches and other typical birds for this time of year. They all were very close to the house....some of the trees and shrubs are not more that 5'away and it was fun getting such close looks of the birds feeding. They were just as happy eating icicles dangling from the limbs as the berries! The Chickadees here have been singing for weeks, we have had one Song Sparrow all winter and the Red Bellied Woodpecker is still here and has finally discovered the peanutbutter and suet! I was thrilled to have 13 Evening Grosbeaks for a while this morning- they are seldom around anymore. I remember 12 years ago our back deck was covered with them.
