On 4/25/07 VESPER SPARROWS arrived. Since then there have been 5 seen at one time. This species will be seen every day now right on through the first part of October.

On that same day a FIELD SPARROW arrived and has been here since. I'm sure that he/she will be departing soon to continue on the spring migration.

The winter ducks are thinning out but a few of most of them are still around. I was able to find Common Loon, Horned Grebe, Longtailed Duck, RB Merganser, Bufflehead, Mallard and Black today but did not find Goldeneye. There has also been a pair of Black Scoter at the Falls for the last two days. 30-35 Purple Sandpiper on the seal ledge 1/2 mile north of the Falls. The Osprey pair is back on their nest at the Nub just north of the Falls.
21 April 2007 - Blue Hill Bay

Swamp Sparrow have been present for 4 days now. Easily could be longer? Today we saw 4, at one time, eating Thistle seed (Niger seed) before this next storm arrives. The early arrivals are rather desperate because of our cold, wet, weather paterns.
15 April 2007 - Sedgwick feeder

Tom Bjorkman
A pair of Osprey circling overhead just south of the Falls this afternoon. Possibly the pair that nests at the far end of the The Nub near the Falls returning.
14 April 2007 - Blue Hill Falls

10 FOX SPARROW at one time. Seems to be a bonanza spring migration for this species this year. At least it is in my yard.

6 AMERICAN TREE SPARROW still present
9 April 2007 - Feederbirds in Sedgwick

Molt is in progress. On my kayak ride today, I found 12 Horned Grebes in molt (looking nothing like either the breeding or winter plumage in Sibley) between Parker Point and the Falls. Also 6 common Loon with 3 of them in winter plumage and three already in beautiful breeding plumage.
