Most of the Common Eider appear to have left the upper Bay. Only 33 at the Falls on Sunday, the lowest count since October. Long-tailed Ducks are still in the Bay, but in reduced numbers. A single Horned Grebe at the Falls was in full breeding plumage. The Eastern Towhee hanging around Conary Cove made it through the winter.

Spent 2 hours birding Deer Isle Causeway Beach and Scott's Landing today.

31 RED-NECKED GREBES seen out in Eggemoggin Reach from Scott's Landing. Some of these were paired off and prenuptial behavior was observed.

Some of the other species seen where: Greater Scaup 5, Common Eider 65, Surf Scoter 11, White-winged Scoter 1, Bufflehead 25, Long-tailed Duck 5, Common Goldeneye 85, Red-breasted Merganser 24, Common Loon 6, Horned Grebe 6 and others that one would expect to see at this season..

Notes: This data includes Deer Isle Causeway Beach and therefore acreage was increased from the usual 26 acres of Scott's Landing. 1 adult Bald Eagle on the nest on Carney Island across from the causeway beach. Turkey Vulture was the first of the season that I have seen in our area.

At 2 Reach Rd. feeders, Fox Sparrows, Song Sparrows and a male Red-Bellied Woodpecker. The Rusty Blackbird first seen on the Deer Isle Christmas Bird Count, was also seen today, 3/27.
